While still recovering from a fractured hip, Suzanne Somers recently took a spill down the stairs at home, Page Six has exclusively learned, and the star successfully underwent neck surgery.
We hear that Somers, 73, will post a statement to fans today explaining the reason that she and her husband, Alan Hamel, have taken a break from their usual Facebook Live gatherings at their home bar, “Big Al’s.”
Somers’ message — which will post on her site, we hear — reads: “Thank you so much for all of your concern while Alan and I took a break from our normal schedule. As most of you know, I have been struggling for the better part of the year with a fractured hip, and then Alan and I took an unfortunate fall while coming down the stairs at our home.”
She further reveals that, “I had an intense amount of pain after the fall that was not resolving – even after having tequila! After several scans, it was determined I had two vertebrae out of place which was causing pressure on nerves and creating that tremendous pain.”
But, “The good news is that I had neck surgery to correct these issues and now I am on the mend! I need a bit more time to recover before I can join you again at the bar for our virtual cocktail parties.”
She will also tell fans how much she appreciates all their support and that she’ll be back soon.
We previously reported how the “Three’s Company” star and author of “A New Way To Age” was promoting her latest book in January of this year after fracturing her hip. But the injury didn’t stop the intrepid star from wearing “5-inch Manolo Blahniks” while using a crutch for promo appearances.
She’d previously been in bed for weeks, and told us: “I had to stay in bed for six weeks, no moving — but my husband went to bed with me.” She and Hamel have been married since 1977, and live in Palm Springs, Calif.
Spry Somers caused a stir on social media last year when she celebrated her birthday by posting a picture in her birthday suit — still looking sexy in her 70s. The pic was snapped by Hamel on their property.
